Stitch Toolbox

Embroidery files, handled in the browser

Digitise it. Open it. Check it. Convert it. Nothing to install, nothing uploaded.

Turn a logo or picture into a stitch file with real fills, satin and underlay. Or drop a PES, DST, JEF or any of 24 formats: see every stitch, find the density spots and short stitches that break needles, convert to the format your machine wants, and price the job.

New · automatic digitising

A picture in, a stitch file out.

Drop a PNG, JPG or SVG. The artwork is read at 0.1 mm, colours are reduced to thread, and every shape gets the stitch its width calls for: a triple running stitch under 0.9 mm, satin columns that turn with the shape up to 3.4 mm, staggered tatami fill above that, with an edge walk and an underlay sewn across it. The fabric you pick changes density, underlay and pull compensation, not just the advice.

Then it is measured: coverage, short and long stitches, density, trims. You see the audit before you download, and nothing is sold to fix it.

Preview, sew-out and audit are free. Three designs download free; Pro is unlimited.

A flag logo digitised automatically: tatami fills in the field and stripes, satin columns in the small lettering, as drawn by the stitch preview

Why it is different

A validated stitch engine, not a wrapper around someone else's converter.

Readers for 24 formats were checked against pyembroidery on 226 real files from Brother, Janome, Wilcom, Hatch, Embird, PEmbroider and Ink/Stitch exports; where they disagreed, the same design in six other formats settled it. Eight of the 11 writers are byte-identical to pyembroidery, and every file we write is read back by both readers before it ships.

The pre-flight check, resize and lettering engines are built on the same stitch model, so a design that passes the check here is measured the same way after resizing or lettering.

Questions

Are my files uploaded?

No. Reading, previewing, checking and converting happen in your browser. The only time a file reaches our server is when you save a design to your account, and you can delete it any time.

Which formats can it open?

24: PES, PEC, DST, EXP, JEF, VP3, XXX, HUS, VIP, SEW, PCS, U01, TBF, DSB, DSZ, TAP, EXY, 10O, KSM, SHV, EMD, PHC, Z01, STX. EMB (Wilcom), ART (Bernina), CSD and VP4 are object formats that only their own software can read; export a stitch format from there first.

Which formats can it write?

PES, DST, JEF, EXP, VP3, XXX, PEC, U01, TBF, DSB, DSZ. Writers were checked byte for byte against pyembroidery, the open-source library behind Ink/Stitch, and every output was read back by both.

What does the pre-flight check look for?

Stitches under 0.3 mm (thread breaks), stitches over 12.1 mm (become jumps), density above five penetrations per square millimetre (puckering, needle deflection), jumps over 12 mm without a trim, colour changes between the same colour, trims per thousand stitches, and whether the design fits a hoop.

Is the lettering real satin?

Yes. Letters are stitched as satin columns across each stroke from the stroke's centre line, with a centre-run underlay, tie-ins and pull compensation. Strokes wider than 8 mm switch to a tatami fill. There is also fill, fill with a satin edge, satin outline and running-stitch styles.

Do you make applique files?

Not here. Applique (placement, tack-down, satin border and a matching cut file) is a different job and has its own product, Appliqué Maker.
