Fonts and licences

Every font in the lettering tool is licensed for commercial use in the files you generate. The engine builds on open-source work that deserves credit.

Under both licences the fonts may be used to create embroidery files that you sell. You may not sell the font files themselves.

Open-source foundations

  • pyembroidery (MIT) by Tatarize and contributors: the reference implementation whose format writers and readers we ported to TypeScript and verified against.
  • Ink/Stitch (GPL-3.0): used as the reference satin engine for validation, and the source of the thread colour charts (palette data).
  • opentype.js (MIT) for glyph outlines; fflate (MIT) for ZIP packaging.
